Description
Drought tolerant, lower growing grass with some chafer grub resistant to new lawn seedlings
Seeding rate: 10-15lbs per 1000 square feet
Advantages:
Aesthetically appealing, turf type tall fescue has better turf quality than fine fescues
Has the deepest roots of any turf grass, resulting in superior drought tolerance
Some resistance against the chafer grub infestation, once fully established and has a great resistance against turf diseases
Produces the least amount of thatch of any turf grass
Disadvantages:
Slower germination time means it is not suitable for overseeding existing ryegrass/fine fescue lawns
Does not repair itself naturally, so it is not recommended for high wear areas and must be overseeded regularly
Does not work well, seeded with other grasses, as it is slower to germinate
