REASONS FOR TREES AND SHRUBS TO DIE
- If a locality has had a harsh winter, heavy snowfall, and ice, these factors can damage or even break plant limbs
- Sudden and frequent changes in temperature can harm and/or kill woody perennials. Especially if they have not been fully established as of yet
- A plant can be overcome with disease or pests
- Planting the shrub or tree correctly is important. Not planting it too high or too low, and using well drained soil, are important. For very poorly draining areas, a raised bed may be advisable. Also, to make sure that the compacted roots are lightly loosened
- Not fertilizing enough, or fertilizing too much can also kill the plant
- If the plant did not make it past the winter, consider if it was watered efficiently in the past summer. Newly planted trees, and shrubs, because they are not established, nee to be watered frequently, and slowly. Thy must be watered at their base
IF A PLANT EXPERIENCED HAVING PALE GREEN, SMALL FOLIAGE, AND GREW LITTLE OVER THE LAST YEAR, BUT IT HAD BEEN GIVEN PROPER CARE, AND MAINTENACE, IT MAY HAVE DIED FOR NO REASON.
